Introduction and Early Life
James White is a former American football player who has played eight seasons with the Patriots while winning three Super Bowls. James White may be the best at his job as the running back in the New England Patriot All-Dynasty team. He was born and raised in Florida and did his high school at the famous St. Thomas Aquinas. He won the National Championship in 2008 during his high school.
College Career:
He was awarded the title of Freshman of the Year in his first year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He continued to excel in his college football career. In the 2010-11 season, he showcased his talent by scoring fourteen touchdowns, playing a vital role in leading the Badgers to victory. His notable performance helped secure the Rose Bowl title for the team that year.
Throughout his college years, he remained a leading player for the Badgers, displaying his skills on the football field. His performance and dedication to the sport made him entitled to the 2014 NFL draft, signaling the opportunity to take his football career to the professional level.
The Patriots:
The Patriots drafted him in the fourth round as a 130th overall, but unfortunately, his debut game ended as a loss against the Chiefs. However, the Patriots did win the Super Bowl in the postseason. White was only a part of three games in his rookie season and was not an active player for the team, even for the Super Bowl. However, in the 2015 season, he began to get time on the field after the Patriots starting running back Dion Lewis could not play due to an ACL injury. The Patriots did qualify for the playoffs but unfortunately lost in the AFC championship game to the Broncos.
Second Super Bowl win:
In the 2016 season, lucky for White, he was the starter from game one, and Patriots set a magnificent record of 14-2, earning them the first-round bye. He had five receiving touchdowns and 551 receiving yards during the regular season alone, further proving his capabilities.
In the Super Bowl game, White scored twenty points on his own after the Patriots were trailing by a devastating score of 28-3 in the third quarter. The team owes it all to the ability of White and Tom Brady. The Patriots were able to tie the game in regular time. To no surprise, in overtime, White scored the winning touchdown and won his second title in his career. However, unlike the first one, he had a significant part in the play this time.
As expected, Tom Brady did win the Super Bowl MVP award, but he honorably mentioned in his speech that White deserved it more than he did and gave him the MVP award, which was a pickup truck. Next year they returned to the Super Bowl yet again, but this time faced harsh defeat against the Eagles. Free football picks websites had Patriots as the pick of the game for that particular Super Bowl.
Third and last Super Bowl win:
The Patriots made it to the Super Bowl for the third year in a row, and White was leading as captain this time. The team could have done better in the regular season as compared to the previous two, but they made it to the playoffs with a record of 11-5. White managed twelve touchdowns (five rushing and seven receiving). They faced the Chargers and won 41-28. However, the game against the Chiefs in the AFC championship was one of the toughest yet. The Patriots led towards victory with a score of 37-31 in overtime to reach the Super Bowl. The Patriots defeated the Rams with White’s four rushing yards and five receiving yards. This was to be the final title of his career.
Events that led to retirement:
In the next two seasons, he continued to play his best game, performing as well as possible, and had no plan of retiring anytime soon. But, unluckily, in the 3rd week of the 2021 season, he suffered a severe hip injury, resulting in him being off the field for almost the entire season. On March 15, 2022, he officially announced his retirement through a tweet on Twitter.
